Under the Market Roof
We are incredibly excited about making our first theatre production, Under the Market Roof by Becky Prestwich, which will take place on the much-loved Chorley Market from 11-21 October 2017.
Ever since she was a child, Lisa has spent her Saturdays working on her Granddad Len’s hardware stall. Everyone knows old Len, the man who turned up on Chorley Market as a lad with nothing but a couple of suitcases of stock and made a life out of it. But Len hasn’t seemed himself lately, and Lisa starts to wonder if the ‘L. Shaw’ sign above the cabin could be ‘L’ for Lisa. She loves the market and the people at the heart of it, but is her Mum right when she says there’s no future in the market?

This new play by Becky Prestwich (Chip Shop Chips, Doctors, Holby City) is inspired by a series of interviews taken with those who work and shop on Chorley Market. Under the Market Roof is a warm, funny, thought-provoking play about community, family, ambition and the connection we have to the place we live. Grab a barm, a pint or a brew and join us for a unique theatrical experience full of Chorley spirit!

How do I get to chorley market?
Driving
Postcode: PR7 1AY
Use M61 Junction 8. Take the A674, then the A6 (Preston Road) in towards the town centre. Within 5 mins of the motorway the large flat iron car park will appear on your right hand side. Look out for Booths and Iceland which are both located on the main car park.
Public Transport
The market is about a 5 minute walk from Chorley Train Station and Chorley Bus Station. It is easy to catch a train in to Chorley from Manchester, and buses and trains come in to Chorley from all over Lancashire.
Taxis
Chorley Taxis - 01257 232222
Cooper's Taxis - 01257 266666
Where do I park?
We would recommend parking on the "Flat Iron Car Park" (Postcode: PR7 1AY).
This will be free from 5pm.
The next best option is "St Mary's Car Park"
(Postcode: PR7 2BW).
There are plenty of other council car parks around the market, and lots of on-street parking too.
