Junction 8 Theatre - What's Your Story Chorley?
We are delighted to be involved in this year’s What’s Your Story Chorley? on 1 April 2017.
We will be holding an open rehearsal of a dramatic monologue in one of the many venues taking part across Chorley Town Centre.
A professional actor will perform the monologue and then Liz will work on it with the actor in front of the audience. The audience can sit back and observe, or they can get involved by making suggestions and joining in! The session will end with a Q&A with the actor and Junction 8 Theatre. The workshop will be 45 minutes long (times and locations TBC).
This workshop will give an insight into a rehearsal process between an actor and a director, giving the audience the opportunity to hear some Chorley-inspired new writing and a chance to get to know a bit more about Junction 8 Theatre.
But to make all this happen, we need your help!
Do you have a story to tell? Have you always fancied having a go at writing for performance? YES? Then get cracking and send us your monologue!
We will read all the monologues you send and decide which one(s) we’d like to work on for What’s Your Story Chorley?. The selected writers will have the opportunity to work with Liz to develop their monologue and have it performed in front of a live audience. For us, it’s a great opportunity to hear some new stories and work with new people.
We encourage everyone to send us something, whether it’s the first time you’ve put pen to paper, or whether you are an experienced playwright wanting to get involved in something new! Young or old, local or not so local – we want to hear from you.
Fancy it? Here’s what you need to consider:
The monologue should be no more than one A4 page in length
It should have a Chorley flavour – perhaps your character is from Chorley, or the monologue is set somewhere in the town, or it’s inspired by a bit of local history – the possibilities are endless!
In keeping with the theme of this year’s What’s Your Story Chorley? taking place on 1 April, we want the monologue to be inspired by the question: ‘Would I lie to you?’
Please send your monologues to info@junction8theatre.co.uk by Monday 6th March.
What is What’s Your Story Chorley?
This year’s event, held on Saturday 1 April, will see several performances throughout the day in different venues across Chorley Town Centre.
The format of the family friendly event, organised jointly by Chorley Borough Council and The Creative Network, is similar to the popular Chorley Live weekend every October. This time it’s about words – listening, reading, or writing – and there really is something for everyone.
Performances will start on the hour from 11am to 4pm and will include an ‘open mic’ type rolling programme, and a series of 45 minute sessions.
