Lancashire Play
We found out this week that we have received a grant from Arts Council England to research and develop a new play all about Lancashire.
We want to investigate Lancashire identity – does Lancashire have an identity? What’s the relationship between its different towns? What do people associate with our county?
We want the play to be a Verbatim piece. Verbatim is a way of making a play using the precise words of various people interviewed about a particular subject. Working with 3 actors for a week in May, we’ll be experimenting with how we might put these words together. We’ve been supported by The Dukes in Lancaster for this R&D, so we will be interviewing people living in Lancaster and Chorley. We’d love for you to get involved!
After our workshops at What’s Your Story, Chorley? we’ll be asking people to share their opinions, experiences and memories of Lancashire with us.
We’ll also be milling around the town centre between workshops to ask people on the street “What does Lancashire mean to you?” so please do come and say hello if you spot us!
